REFORMATIVE DETENTION
FOR MALE OFFENDER. CARNAL KNOWLEDGE CASE. HAMILTON, August 24. “It must be known that, despite the conditions known to exist in this case, no man can treat a child in this way,” said Mr Justice Smith in imposing a sentence of three years’ reformative detention on John Burt, 45 years of age, in the Supreme Court at Hamilton this evening. Burt was charged with unlawful carnal knowledge and assault at Ta tvmar unui on July 10.
