Ft RT HER FIGHTING ON SHANGHAI FRONT By Telegraph—Copyright —Press Assn. SHANGHAI, Aug. 22. Fighting has been proceeding along the Jehol front since Saturday, and the outcome is still uncertain. The Japanese forces opened the attack in the vicinity of Naning. Their aircraft flow over villages, warning the inhabitants against joining the volunteers at the pain of being killed without mercy. Civilians are fleeing inland for safety. It is doubted whether the attacks amount to more than a further endeavour to secure the release of Major Ishimoto, who has now been held captive for over a month. It is not believed that a general invasion of Jehol is intended.
