Court Proceedings THE CASE FOR THE CROWN BUTCHER FINDS DOOR LOCKED (Per Press Association) BLENHEIM, This Day. The charge against Edward Tarrant (Picton) of having murdered James Flood on November 3, 1931, was continued in the Police Court to<day. ~ John Walker Fowler gave evidence as to finding a key on the green of the Picton Croquet Club. Henry Ruff ell, butcher, deposed that he called at deceased's house on November 4, at about 4.3 9 p.m. He got no reply to a knock and tried the door, which was locked. Cross-examined, witness said he cut meat up on the van using an ordinary butcher's knife and cleaver. Janies Aldridge, baker, also gave evidence in regard to calling at the cottage-and finding the door locked, which was unusual. Tennyson Connolly deposed to passing the cottage on the night of November 3. All was dark. The following morning he again passed and saw the window open. It was the first time he had seen the window open. The door was closed.
