ENGINEER’S REPORT Supply has been well maintained, one prearranged shut-down having occurred and one each on the Waipukurau and Waipawa feeders. On April 30th trouble was experienced on the Waipawa feeder and when the trouble was finally eliminated it proved to bo a faulty insulator on the high tension switch controlling the To Kura branch. On May 21 the Waipukurau feeder gave trouble at 2.30 a.m., the cause being an insulator adrift on the Porangahau section. Work in hand at present. mainly concerned with lines affected by earthquake. Individual poles particularly on angles that wore pulled out of plumb arc being straightened and reblocked. As opportunity and weather offers, the whole of the line from Deal's to the Hunter estate is being straightened and reblocked and wo are taking the opportunity to put in a few more pole steps in each pole to eliminate the necessity of carrying a ladder over this bad section. Ugly Hill section also needs attention and will bo done on the completion of Porangahau. Here we also find it necessary to attend to binders as the cable is all out of regulation duo to the poles shifting. A number of the lines in the Takapau district also need restraining and will be attended to after the Ugly .Hill is finished. Three new jobs have been inspected during the month and also have 18 alterations or additions in various parts of the area. 1
