ELECTRIC POWER

IN CENTRAL H.B.

SECRETARY MANAGER’S REPORT

The monthly report of the secre-tary-manager (Mr G. E. Fowler) to the Central Hawke’s Bay Electric Power Board which met to-day is as follows: —

I regret to report the death of Mr G. Smales, late storeman to the board and a most competent and loyal officer indeed. . i The value of the readings in the Waipawa and country area for the quarter ending 31/3/32 was £3571 5s 2d as compared with £3841 Is 4d for the same quarter in the previous year. For the two months ending 31/3/32 the value of energy sold in the Waipukurau Borough decreased from £973 19s 3d for the same period in 1931 to £902 6s 3d this year. The drop is no doubt corollary to the present economic position.

Due to the rise in the maximum demand in the early evening, hot water clocks are being closely watched and I am changing clocks over as

is necessary in order to check the peak demand.
