SHOWERY AND COLD The following is the weather forecast for 24 nours from 9 a.m. this day and issued at noon: — The indications are for southerly winds, strong to gale. The weather will probably prove squally and changeable. Expect heavy showers, with, hail and sleet at times, and. becoming very cold. The barometer is rising. COLD AND CHANGEABLE
Following is the Government meteor ologist’s weather report und forecast, issued last night:—
A depression has been crossing the South Island in front of an extensive anti-cyclone, situated to the Westward. Winds moderate to strong southwesterly, of gale force at places in and south of Cook Strait.
Seas rather rought to rough generally in New Zealand waters.
Strong south-west winds and rough seas, but wind and see later moderating in the eastern Tasman Sea.
Weather cold, and changeable with showers in' most districts, and some snow on the ranges. Later, however, an improvement gradually setting in from the westward.
