RAILWAY EXCURSION

CITY OF WELLINGTON WEEK-END HOLIDAY Encouraged by the success of the special week-end excursion to Wellington in the middle of ADril, the Railway Department has decided to offer the residents of Hawke’s Bay another opportunity of a very cheap visit to the Capital City. Recognising the diminished spending power of the public the Department has halved the fares for these “community service” trips. Public appreciation of the big concession fares -was shown by the fact that the week-end train to Wellington last month carried 350 passengers to that town, and the Department made some profit (which helps to reduce taxation). , The next “weed-ender” wiiU leave Napier at 11.20 a.m. and Waipukurau at 12.54 p.m. on Saturday, 28th May, and is scheduled to reach Wellington at 6.22 p.m.

Residents of Hawke’s Bay can be sure of very pleasant hours in Wellington. Indoors and out the city offers a wide rage of entertainment. The saying “Somthing doing” does apply to Wellington. On Sunday afternoon (beginning al 3 o’clock) excursionists will hear the charming melody of the Carillon, which has taken warm hold of Wellington’s heart. People whose acquaintance with these wonderful bells has been limited to a radio hearing will be delightfully astonished by the difference between the real thing and the wire-

less projection. The return journey from Wellington will begin at 6.5 p.m. on 29th May, and the train will arrive at Waipukurau at 11.44 p.m. The cheap excursion tickets will also be available for return on Monday, 3.,0th May, by the 9.20 a.m. Napier-Wellington express.
