Teachers and Marriage
A letter was received by the Wanganui Education Board yesterday from the Carnarvon School Committee, protesting against the frequent, changes in infant teachers. "We cannot be held lesposible when teachers get married,” said a member. Bible Beading in Schools In reply to a request from the Wan.ganui Education Board for information regarding the manner in which children who do not attend Bible reading are employed during the Bible reading period, 19 of the largest schools in the board’s district replied. Most of 'the reports stated that the children attended the readings, or were quietly leading in school. At Marton Junction School, however, the children played in a shelter shed. The teacher there is to be asked to keep the children in school in future. Boy Employment Scheme At a meeting of the committee set up in connection with the Rissington Scout camp scheme held on Tuesday, Mr Mason Chambers was appointed •chairman, Mr J. H. Absolum vice-chair-man and Mr Gardiner hon. secretary. Many urgent enquiries have already come in from parents and it is obvious the need is great. It is difficult to raise the necessary finance of £3'oo to equip and maintain the camp at a time like this, but the members of the committee have heard so much in favour of the scheme from all kinds of people that they are convinced the funds will be forthcoming.
