PROTEST BY FARMERS’ UNION
AGAINST GOVERNMENT’S ACTION
(Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. Protests against the Government’s appropriation of £500,000 from ( the petrol tax and against, the monopoly of petrol supplies were made at the Dominion executive meeting of the Farmers’ Union, and the following remit carried:—■
“That all funds collected by ■way of benzine tax should be utilised for the purpose of reading and the reduction of rates, and not for any other purpose.’’
