- « RETIRING CHAIRMAN DEFEATED MR. T. E. CROSSE SUCCESSOR Mr. T. E. Crosse was elected chairman of the Hawke’s Bay Electric Power Board yesterday afternoon at the annual meeting of that body. Mr. W. Harvey, the retiring chairman, was nominated for re-election by Mr. H. Hill, seconded by Mr. A. Hobson, while Mr. Crosse was nominated by Mr. M. S. Chambers, seconded by Mr. J. Ellis. On a vote being taken Mr. Crosse’s nomination was supported by five to four members. Those supporting Mr. Crosse were Messrs. C. C. Smith, R. Harding, E. J. Merrick, J. Ellis and M. S. Chambers. Those voting in favour of Mr. Harvey were Messrs. A. Hobson, H. Hill, L. Harvey and S. Ashcroft. Owing to illness, Mr. Crosse was not present at the meeting and therefore the retiring chairman did not exercise his vote. Mr. Harvey extended his congratulations to Mr. Crosse upon his election, while on the motion of Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Chambers, a vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Harvey for the successful work he had carried out for the board during his period of chairmanship.
