SALARY REDUCTIONS
ON THE TOP RUNGS AUCKLAND APPROVES CUTS (Per Press Association) AUCKLAND, Saturday. Recommendations providing for further reductions in tho salaries of officers receiving £360 a year or more were adopted by tho City Council last evening. The new scale is to operate from May 1 the cuts being 5 per cent, on those receiving £360 to £495; 74 per cent on salaries from £496 to £1000; and 124 per cent on salaries over £lOOO. The offer of the city engineer Mr J. Tyler, to waive his contract in regard to the increment ho would receive this year was accepted.
