By Telegraph—Copyright —Press Assn.
NEW YORK, May 14.
Over 25,000 persons, headed by Mayor Walker, marched in a parade which lasted twelve hours, bearing placards, “We want beer” and recounting the benefits to the nation’s finance, both private and public, that would be derived from it, including 500,000,000 dollars annual revenue in Federal excise tax alone.
Many organised groups of the city’s life, including the Tammany Society, participated. It is estimated that 1,000,000 persons lined the streets through which the paraders marched.
