BRUTAL ASSAULT
ON A LIGHTLY-BUILT LAD
£lO FINE OR MONTH’S GAOL
“This can only be described as a brutal assault on a lightly-built lad,” said Senior-Sergeant Scott in the Police Court on Saturday when referring to a charge against Harry Percival Whiterod, fire-cleaner, aged 37, of assaulting William George John Durning. Accused, who pleaded guilty, was fined £lO, in default one month’s imprisonment, by Mr E. Page, S.M. the senior-sergeant stated that two constables saw accused rush at Darning, in Courtenay Place, and strike him several blows. Besides being injured, Durning had a set of false teeth broken. The magistrate that halt the fine should be paid to Durning toward repairing the set of teeth.
