AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS CRAWFORD WINS SINGLES. By Telegraph—Copyright—Press Assn, ADELAIDE, February 14. The Australian tennis championships were played yesterday. In the men’s singles Crawford (New South Wales) retained the title after a gruelling battle with Hopman (Victoria), 4—6, 6 —3, 3—6, 6—3, 6—l. Junior Singles.—McGrath (New South Wales) beat Quist (South Australia), 6 —4, 6—2. Women’s Singles.— Mrs Buttsworthy (New Soth Wales) beat Miss Le Messurier (South Australia), 9—7, 6 —4. Mixed Doubles.— Crawford and Mrs Crawford beat Satoh and Mrs. O’Hara Wood, 6 —3, B—6,8 —6, 6 —3. Women’s Doubles.— Mesdames Crawford and Buttsworthy (New* South Wales) beat* Misses Le Messurier and Weston (South Australia) 6—2, 6—2.
Men's Doubles. — Crawford and Moon beat Patterson and Hopman, 4—6, 6 —4, 12— 10,.. 6—3.
