Finger-Nail “Fortunes”

HOW TO READ YOUR LUCK

First in importance! for reading character by the nails of the hands is the shape of the nails. People whose nails are short and broad have greater physical strength and powers of endurance than those whose nails are of the long and narrow variety. Shortnailod people are usually full of enthusiasm and vitality and very practical. They have a keen sense of humour, but are inclined to be sarcastic at times, although they have a dread of adverse criticism of any kind when directed against themselves. They are, however very generous and good-natured. Long-nailed people are imaginative ami artistic, rather inclined to be lazy, with a distinct liking for the good things and pleasant places of life. They arc fond of change, and are not so steadfast as those whose nails are broad. Although they love beautiful things, they are, on the whole, rather cold and unemotional.

Rough nails are a sign of an enormous capacity for affection and steadfast friendship. Fluted nails often denote health, that is below par, or a tendency to chest trouble.

Flat nails arc said to indicate a cold, rather mean, nature; curved ones, warmth and generosity. Pale nails indicate ill-health; red ones, a dominating nature. Bitten nails are a sign of a highly strung, nervous temperament, and sometimes of a hot and uncontrollable temper. . It is lucky to have big “moons” at the base of the nails. To have none at all shows an undue love of luxury, so much for your character. Now come the superstitions. Little white spots on the nails all mean something according to which nail they are on. On the right thumb nail —{Money is coming to you. On the right inflex finger—Some one is planning to do you a. kindness. On the right middle finger —A disappointment awaits you. On the right third finger—You will shortly hear of an engagement. If there are several spots, you will shortly become engaged yourself. On the right little finger—Beware of listening to slanderous tongues, which will seek to turn you against one you love. Ou the left thumb —You are going on a journey. On the left index finger —An enemy Beware lost they bring failure to a cherished scheme. On the left middle finger—A pleasant surprise awaits you. On the left third finger (the ring finger)—A wedding—of a friend if only one spot; your own if several. The left little finger—An unexpected meeting with an old friend. Two spots on either thumb nail is a particularly lucky sign, foretelling two strokes of great good luck —one of them for yourself and the other to a friend in-whose good fortune you are interested.
