THEFTS FROM WAIPAW A FIRM
ADMITTED TO TERM PROBATION
(Per Press Association) NAPIER, This Day.
Reynold David Burton, who faced four charges of forgery at Waipawa, was admitted to probation for three years by His Honour, Mr Justice Blair, at the Supreme Court to-day. The details of the charges against accused, who was employed as an accountant at Messrs Williams and Kettle’s Waipawa branch, were: — (1) On September 16, making an order on Williams and Kettle, Waipawa, purporting to be from F. J. Witherow to A. Sym§s for the sum of £3B 10/-; (2) with forging the signature of S. P. Gutherie to a cheque for £6O drawn on Williams and Kettle in favour of S. P. Guthrie; (3) with making a receipt for £5 purporting to be signed by P. Hunt for cash advanced on account of Omakere station; (4) with making a receipt for £6 purporting to be signed by A. P. McHardy for cash advanced.
