ELECTRIC IRON LEFT ON. CAUSES DESTRUCTIVE FIRE. (Per Press Association) MASTERTON, Last Night. i An electric iron, which was left switched on, was the cause of a fire to-night in the shop of G. Mclvor draper, of Queen street, Masterton. The fire was discovered by the next door tenant W. G. Perry, gramophone dealer. The brigade quickly had the outbreak suppressed, but not before considerable damage was done to Mclvor’s new stock, which had arrived that day. Some of the stock in the shop suffered through smoke and water, that of Perry also suffering slightly in that direction. Insurances are not available. The building is a one storey wooden structure, owned by Mrs Mary Rue.
