I Wellington banks have found that drifting into the hands of tellers are a number of silvered pennies with portraits of Queen Victoria on one side and Edward VII on the other. The edges are notched to suggest that they were once milled. The public are warned to watch out. , The oldest note in the possession of the Bank of England is dated December 19, 1699, It is for £555.
