Porangahau Notes

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent) The monthly meeting of the Porangahau branch of the Women’s Institute was held recently in the Masonic Hall, Mrs Healey, one of the delegates to the Federation meeting, read her report, after which Miss Sargisson read an article entitled “Beautiful Ugliness” and Miss Green read one on New Zealand’s first Printer. Mrs Somerville was the winner of a sweet box-making competition. It was decided to invite the members of the Mangaorapa Women’s Institute to attend the Birthday meeting on May Ist. The Porangahau members are also asked to bring a friend. A dainty afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mrs Somerville and Miss Green. Personal.

Mrs Sidwell and Air G. Sidwell have returned after a holiday spent with relatives in the King Country. Mrs Herbert, who has been visiting her relatives Mr and Mrs Sidwell, has returned to her home in Makotuku. Mrs Er wood and family are spending a few days with relatives at Woodville. Miss P. White, of “Braeburn,” is spending a holiday with relatives in the South Island.
