A QUAKER’S WEDDING.
COUPLE MARRY THEMSELVES. A couple married themselves without a minister, at the Friends’ Meetinghouse, Allonby (England). They were Mr Thomas Wannop Williamson, formerly vice-principal of the Cumberland and Westmorland Farm School, now agricultural lecturer to the Derbyshire County Council, and Miss Mary Frances Dowell, a teacher with a distinguished college career. The bridegroom, after a long silence simply declared that he took the bride as his wife until death divided them. This is the usual form of marriage among the Friends or Quakers.
