FOOTBALL ON THE COAST.
— ® POHO BEAT WEBER, POTTED GOAL VICTORY TO PORANGAHAU. The Weber team journeyed to Porangahau on Saturday, where they met the Poho team for the first time this season. Tho Weber team were a very light lot, but they stood up very game against- thjeir hefty opjynctns. The Wte-ber forwards outpaced the Polio pack in loose work, but were safely held by the Poho’s good handling of the ball and long punting. T. Ku.ru, at full back gave a fine display, h s kicks finding the- line al a long distance every time he was pushed. W Wakefield also played a hard game-. Ills kicking also, was very ac curate. The Weber backs were weak with the exception of J. Hales, who played a good defensive game. The first score was a penalty goal kicked by 11. Tipen?. This roused Weber to top speed but no further scores were scored until well on in the second spell when a fine passing rush started about half way, the ball passing through all the Poho backs, T. Kuru dived over at a handy position, H. Tipene took the kick wh <ch went
wide. The Weber team rallied 'veil and were' Meryl near over on sevjeral occasions The Polios were too hard on the de fence for them to pierce . The game ended in favour of Poho by S to nil. Mr C, Scott gave every satisfact.on as referee
The Porangahau team journeyed to Wallingford on Saturday, where they met the Wallingford team. After a hard fought game Porangahau won by 4 to nil (a potted goal by G. Beattie). Mr G. Oliver gave every satisfaction as referee.
