Mr V. S. Pointon, of the Bank ef New Zealand Waipukurau, is at present away, on annual leavo. Mr Bert Johnston left Waipukuraa by mail train yesterday for Hastings, where he will participate in the Hawke’s Bay Amateur Boxing Champion. Mr S. Haines, of the Bank of New Zealand, Napier, is at present, in Wai. pukurau relieving on the stsiff of the Bank here. ' 4 Mr D. Stevens, the well known local boxer, left Waipukurau by car last evening for Hastings where he will box in the amateur championships of Hawke’s Bay. Sir George Hunter, Mj.P., left Waipukurau for Wellington by the mail train yesterday, Parliament being in session necessitating his presence in the capital. Mr C. G. Porter, the captain of the All Blacks, was farewelled by his old school, South Wellington on Monday. The function, which was marked by the greatest enthusiasm, took the form of the presentation of a camera to the leader of the wearers of the silver fern. Messrs W|. J. Wallace, F. Roberts, H. D. Thompson, D. Johnston, and W. S. Glenn MiP., all members of the 1905 All Blacks, were present at the official banquet to the 1924 All Blacks in Wellington on Monday night. They were cheered to the echo by the present team, and just as lustily cheered the present day wearers of the silver fern. Mr L. Brownlie, of Pukctitiri, Hawk’s Bay was at Palmerston North on Saturday, states the "Manawatu Times,” to see the final All Blacks game. He is a brother of M.. I. and S> J. Brownlie, the New Zealand representatives, and was the first- of the trio .to gain his New Zealand ' cap. He - played against New South Wales on September 3, 1921, when New Zealand was beaten by 17 points to nil. There is only one other family to wear three silver ferns, H. E. ? H. Q., and M. F. Nicholls, of Petone.
