ELECTION OF DELEGATE'S.

A meeting of the newly-elected committee o-f- the Waipukurau Patriotic Society wits held in tho Social Hall on

Wednesday evening. Tho following members were present: Mesdamso Reid, Chambers, Hopkinson, De Lacey, and Paget; Messrs Winlove, Broad, Taylor, Snundors and Bellons

Mr Winlove was elected chairman and Mr Bollons hon, see. for the ensuing year.

One of the duties o’t the Society being to send five delegates to tho Waipukurau branch of the Hawke’s Bay War Relief Association, the following weae elected: Mesdames Chambers and licid and Messrs Winlove, Saunders and Broad.

The Society is also entitled to nominate eno delegate to tho executive of the H.B. War Relief Association to be- elected by the Wttipukurau branch, and Mr. Gilbert MeKay, the present delegate, is not offering- himelf for re-election. Tn view of the fact that tlio Otanc Pat - riotic League had nominated Mr. J. N. Barrie for the vacancy it was decided that the Waipukurau Society would not nominate on this occasion.

As the annual general meeting of delegates from the Associated Societies will take place in Napier shortly, Mr Win’ovo was elected delegate from this Society to attend. It was decided to arrange a meeting between the Returned Soldiers’ Association usd the Waipukurau Patriotic Society to explain in some measure what had been done by the local society and branch of the H.B. War Relief As-soc-iatiox and discuss matters generally. Two applications were considered. One was from r late member of the Koval Navy, and it was recommended that he be granted tome small pecuniary assistance pending further consideration «nd advice from the Secretary of the New Zealand shipowners as to acknowledgment a* a debt to the British Seamax’s Fund. Proposals were guhesitted to the a iplirtat a»d he was -asked to advise the Waipfikaren branch of his position and what he could do in the way of re-pay-meat.
