fj. MTETING- OF COMMITTEE. 'Hie monthly meeting of the Waipukuran District High School Committee was held mi Tuesday evening last. There were present: Messrs., W. G. Bryce (ch urinnn), J. 11. Walker, J. R, Atkins, E. D. Leigh, L. J, Taylor, R. Robinson ami B. J. Haines. Apologies were received from Messrs. E. A. Goodger 'and J. Warren. / The Hawke’s Bay Education BotuJi inti mated that Mr. W. J. Drillejc-' had been appointed temporary at the school.

Sir George Hunter acknowledged receipt of several resolutions 'Carried at the meeting of householders, and intimated that the same lia>l been forwarded to the proper quarter.

A subcommittee, consisting of Messrs Taylor, Leigh and the Clutirman. wag appointed to attend to certain works at the High School.

The Chairnwin of the Taradale School Committee forwarded a copy of a resolution carried at the householders’ meeting- urging upon the Education Department the necessity of supplying all books and stationery free of charge to all children- attending elementiiry classes. It was resolved that the committee heartily endorse, the resolution and that a copy of same be forwarded jo the Minister for Education.

The Chairman reported that a good supply of fuel had been •procured, also that the work of re-grading the primary school playground was proceeding satisfactorily. Tie Headmaster was empowered to provide those children coming a distance with hot cocoa at mid-day. l ■ , ■ r.. ••• ■»1:. 1
