OBITUARY
Mr Alexander McMinn Founder of the Examiner The deatli is reported a 1; Davenport of Mr Alexander McMinn, after a short illness. Mr McMinn was a well-known journalist, and filled engagements on the Wanganui Herald, the Raugitikei Advocate, Wairarapa Times, and latterly the Auckland Evening Star. In 1880 he founded the Manawatu , Standard, and later the Examiner, i subsequently disposing of the latter ' property to Mr Haggen, It is re- ; latod that 40 years ago Mr McMinn j was accustomed to make frequent j trips between Wanganui and Wei- ; lington, travelling on the old coast I road. The deceased leaves a widow and four sons. He was always held j in the highest respect, and his death ' will be widely regretted. I
