WHEN WILL THE WAR END?

AN ASTROLOGER’S PREDICTION. Mr. Alan Leo, an English astrologer, who has spent a lifetime in prophesying according to the stars, not only predicted the war, but stakes his reputation as a prophet on a definite forecastof when it will end. He claims that all the prophecies he made in his boob '■ Modern Astrology,” which was published in July, 1910, have come true. Dealing in that book with the Emperor Francis .1 oseph of Austria-Hungary, ho said : —“ The fate of the European nations hangs by the thread of the Emperor’s nativity. The planet Mars ; .s exactly upon the ascendant of King George’s nativity, therefore it is no idle prophecy to say that if a European war breaks out during the lifetime of these two monarchs, the Emperor of Austria will he the direct cause of drawing England into the struggle.” Astrology, says Mr. Leo, is a science based on mathematics, and for that reason it is impossible for an expert astrologer to be wrong in his prophecies. This lino of reasoning gives, to those whom it may convince, interest in his predictions regarding the future developments of the war sot forth in his little hook, “"When Will the War End?” which has just been published. “In the summer of this year,” flays the author, “the heavens lose the fiery violence of the planet Mars in the royal sign Leo, which began its malignant influence with the national horoscopes of the summer quarter of last year. The Lion of Leo lias always been the British symbol, and whenever Britain has been at war with other nations, and Mars has been in Leo, she has been victorious; and ■as we have no special reason to believe that Britain’s star is waning, we are confident that Britain will be victorious in the present European struggle. From 10th March to I6th April Germany will put forth her greatest efforts, and then her star will begin to wane. From the new moon of April till the end of May Britain and France will put forth their greatest eflorts, and those efforts will be of such a .determined and decisive character that the beginning of the end of the war should he seen during the month of Juno. About October the influence of the planet Jupiter, the ‘peace’ planet, becomes so powerful that peace could then lie secured on favourable terms to all concerned.

“During April Britain’s star is culminating with glorious brilliancy, and from the new moon of 14th April onward the Allies will score victory afi »r victory, and will succeed in driving t> * Germans back to their <)v. i land. During the month of May grei rtroubles conic to the Kaiser, arising oinof some apparent success. He will b* betrayed by his own people and an un •.vise move on his part will bring eventual rum. “In October the Kaiser will be able to make the most favourable peace terms he is ever likely to obtain at any future time. Should he persist, however, in putting his fate to the test in the attempt to win or lose all, then the war will continue into the spring of the year 1916, when the fall of the house of Hohenzollern, would become complete.”
