A NEAT RETORT.
-Tones was recently sent by his employer to collect an. account from Smith, notorious for his slackness in making payments. After several vain ■ iMtempts to obtain a settlement .Tones remarked; “Well. at least let me know -on what date I may expect payment.” Smith replied; “Do you take me for -a blooming prophet?” “NS,” responded Jones. “Up to the present I have regarded you as a loss!”
