The Webb boiling down works have been destroyed by fire, together • with a large quantity of tallow. There was no insurance, and nothing was saved of the building or plant. Invercargill, Jan. 18.

The results of the December tests of the above association are to hand, and show the best average herd for December was No. 1, with 13101 b milk, 3.78 test, and 51.071 b butter fat, Next is No. 20, with 12001 b mi]k, 3.91 test, 46.961 b butter fat. The best individual cow was from herd No. 1, milk 20621 b, test 3.8, fat 78.861 b. The worst individual cow gave 5091. h of milk, 2.8 test, 16.491 b fat, and belonged to herd No. 16. The average cow of the whole association yielded 10411 b milk, test, 3.75, fat 30.051 b. Auckland, Jan. IS.

Extensive damage to the hull of the Kaipara was discovered by the divers. A hole two feet square was found, evidently where the (vessel struck. For forty feet the seams affected considerably. Four djyers S/e plugging the seams, and a collision is being made for the large hole, A pumping test yesterday showed that the rent must be more effectively before the pumps can cope with the water. Pumping by the Terawhiti will probably start to-morrow.
