Paris, Jan. 13. M. Edmond Rostand, the French dramatist, realised £26,000 for the rights to publish in serial form his farmyard play, “The Chanticleer " before its production on the stage. Berlin, Jan. 13. The - Hotelkeepers’ Union have issued a manifesto imploring would-be suicides not to patronise their hotels. The German Colonial Office states that the average production of diamonds in German Southwest Africa is worth £IOO,OOO. The rights of German companies are assured against greedy attacks by Cape Colony by the Government proclaiming a monopoly, and there is now no further danger of the diamond fields passing into English hands.
