Poultry Association.
A meeting of the committee of the Woodville Poultry Association, held on Friday evening, was attended by Messrs Stevenson (in the chair), Whittington, Walker, Lovell, McCaffrey, Moore, and Fennell (secretary).
A letter was received from Mr Biggie, Okoia, re the society’s regulation prohibiting the handling of birds, stating that he would not exhibit. —The secretary reported having replied to the letter giving Mr Biggie a general permission to handle his exhibits provided a steward was present.
Two members of affiliated associations asked to be allowed to exhibit at members' rates.—Agreed to. Thei secretary was instructed to obtain 200 catalogues from The Examiner office.
Messrs McGaffery, Moore, Lovell and Walker offered to provide the birds for Mr Hooker’s demonstration of plucking and dressing. Agreed, that the Mayor be asked to open the poultry show. Messrs Whittington and Fennell were appointed to arrange about the luncheon on the day of the show, and Mr Whittington to arrange about ihe necessary timber for the hall, Messrs Moore, Franklin and Lovell were appointed doorkeepers. Mr Harding was placed in charge of the guessing competition, Mr Walker of the egg preserving, Mr Lovell of the children's classes, and Mr McCaffrey of the plucking competition, the lastnamed to see about procuring the necessary birds.
The whole committee was appointed a ball committee, to meet in the Drill Ha'l next Friday evening.
This concluded the business, and the meeting adjourned.
