There is no al oration in the beef market since last week The butter market is steady, and piices well maintained. There is a general and active demand for moderate supp i s coming forward. The 1 average price for choice N.Z. butte? 1 to-day is 101 s per cwt; Danish, 106 s per cwt, Sib- rian is quoted at 955, Supplies are largely to fall off from here. The cheese market is firm, and a much better demand exists for both white and coloured makes at 61a per cwt.

The hemp market is quiet:, and on- | ly small business doing. The mar-1 ket is being effected bv the expecta- f tion of heavy arrivals. The price of! f.e q., Wellington, On spot, 10 liay, is | £3l 10s per ton. April and June shipments are quoted at £3l. The stock on hand is 495 tons against 1338 tons for the corresponding period last year. Fair current Manila, on spot, to-day, is £42 per ton, with a firm market and improved demand. There is a large business doing in wnol, and prices are strong.
