The Order Paper for the Conference of Delegates reprethanking seating the various god. branches of the Farmers' Union to be held at Pahiatua on the 29th inst. is to hand. A Vride range of subjeots has been scheduled for discussion. It must not, however, be taken as any criterion as to the sort of business to be transacted that the following ridiculous resolution has been tabled by Palmerston North :—" That public recognition of our dependence on Almighty God for successful results from our labours is essential to the success of a Farmers' Union." There is no doubt that Palmerston North has a lot to thank the Almighty for, but surely it is unique to pass a vote of thanks to Him. The Palmerston North branch of the Farmers' Uuion has limestone tabled a motion for the in the Conference on the29th, gorge, that the Government be requested to obtain an expert's opinion upon the limesrone deposits in the Gorge, with a view of establishing a Government lim« kilu. We are glad that this mutter has been taken up, though we should have preferred the request to have come from Woodville. Local people are letting a splendid opportunity slip away from them. We are surprised a company has not been formed long ago to work ihe limestone deposits at this end of the Gorge.
