INSURANCE COMPANY COLLAPSES.

The Daily TelegrapVs New York correspondent reports that as a result of the ’Frisco disaster the Trades Insurance Company had collapsed. All asrietf- were required to meet the claims amounting to 750,000 sterling.. Wellington, May 7.

The Premier to-day rec-ived the following cable from Hugh Craig, an ex-Mayor of San Francisco, in reply to a cabled inquiry addressed to him:

“ Spreckles is providing for the transportation of all New Zealanders to Auckland. Am unaware of inquiry to any N w Zealanders, Six square miles are in ruins, and it will take four months for a railroad and ten thousand men to remove the debris. The new city will be erected iuetanter, more beautiful than ever and correcting past errors. The Insurance Companies disburse two hundred millions (? d-dl-r-) The Commercial and Saving Bank» open next, week with unimpaired resources.
