Cycling Notes.

Few cyclists have any idea of what an important influence vulcanisation has on the cycle tyres they ride. There are few, if any, goods in which perfect vulcanisation is so essential as in pneumatic tyres. The process of vulcanising is somewhat analogous to the baking of bread, and whilst bread will stand a good deal of toasting, the border tine between toast that is fit to eat and toast that is not is very narrow. In the same way, the border line between a properly vulcanised tyre and an over-vulcanised tyre is also very fine.

This is where the Dunlop tyre scores largely. These popular tyres are shaped and vulcanised in automatic hydraulic presses, every detail being studied to gain the perfect vulcanised cover. That the Dunlop Rubber Go’s process is a success may be gathered from the fact that over IG,OOO Dunlop tyres are issued from the company’s mills every month, and that not one per cent of the output is ever treated under the company’s 12 months’ guarantee.
