Woodville Athletic Society.

A meeting of the above Society was held on Monday evening. Mr J. A. Nicholas, president' of the Society, occupied the chair, and about ten members were present.

The balance sheet of the late meeting was submitted, shewing a debit balance of £4 14s. This did not include the Council’s share of the gate money, which has yet to be paid, also the Band for their services.

The returns from iho social were not male np, but it was understood these would increase the debit balance to £5 10s.

The Chairman took exception to the Secretary auditing the balance sheet. The Treasurer (Mr W. H. Madill) expliiinod that the Secretary had always audited the accounts in connection with the Club. The Chairman considered that it would be much more satisfactory to the members if an outside auditor was appointed. Mr Madil 1 moved that the Secretary be appointed permanent auditor. This was carried.

It was agreed to approach the Council and submit the balance-sheet to them at the same time asking for a refund of the whole or part of their third of the gate money. It was decided to write a letter of thanks to each of tho guarantors for the late sports meeting, Votes of thanks were passed to all those v/ho had assisted at the late sports meeting, and a special vote to the ladies for their assistance at the Social.

A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the Secretary for his work in connection with the Club.

An offer was received from Mr Edgar Harding to present a modal for a bicyolo road race to Pahiatua and back. Mr Hilton Real also offered a medal for second prize.

Both offers wore accepted with thanks and Messrs Ecclos, Bagley, Madill, Rende and Lawrence were appointed a sub-committee to arrange derails. The nomination and acceptance fee was fixed at 2s Gd, and it was agreed lo give a cash prize of 10a for the fastest time recorded. It was decided to affiliate with the H. B. Sports Protection Society, to enable the Club to take the necessary steps to enforce the payment of fees due to it. A vote of thanks to the Chairman concluded the proceedings.
