Wellington, March 29. Emily Marsden, nurse, wai found unconscious in her bedroom yesterday, the room being full of gas. She was taken to the Hospital and died last evening. The cause of death was gas poisoning, but how the gas came to be turned on is not known.

Mr Turnbull, of Opaki, is mentioned as unlikely to proceed with, the Bisley team, iu which case McKenzie, of Oamaru, will be asked to fill the vacancy. Colonel Collins* who goes in command, is endeavouring to induce the Defence Department to consent to a dozen Fraser rifles being sent Home for use by the team in their matches. Robert Flynn, Corporation laborer, aged G2, died suddenly at his lodgings yesterday, during the evening raeal, being choked by a piece of meat. Deceased was a widowep' and leaves a grown-up family, George Hunter Bethuae, head of the auctioneering firm of J. H. Bet buna and Co., who has been ill for some weeks, died yesterday, aged 40 years.
