Wellington, July 7 return of the number of sheep in the colony is stated to show a large decrease this year. The inference is that mutton is being over exported. Over a million and a quarter carcases of mutton and lamb were exported for the year ending March 81, in excess of the previous year. It appears that wliile the youngest girl was playing with a teapot and a box of wax vestas, which unknown to her sister she put into the teapot, tea was made, and the accident was not discovered till the meal was nearly finished, and the teapot was being filled a second time." Then the box of matches was seen in the teapot. A doctor was immediately telegraphed for. Meanwhile emetics were administered with good effect. When the doctor arrived Mrs Russell was in a semi-collapsed ' condition, but the others were out of danger. To day Mrs Russell was reported to be progressing favourably.
