For bis own part he thought he was entitled to one, and members must not forget the fact that all Mr Gothard had been paid for his work was £2O a year, and besides acting as clerk he had collected their rates, and they had had the free use of his offics. Mr McDonald said that he had been a member of the Board for nine years, and during all that time he could testify that Mr Gothard had performed his duties t) tha entire satisfaction of the members. He hoped the affairs of the new county would be conducted as satisfactorily. Messrs Beatie and Nelson testified to Mr Gothard's ability as clerk, and both were favorable to a bonna being voted. It was unanimously resolved, on the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr McDonald—" That the clerk be granted a bonus of £lO, and the members wish to express their entire satisfaction with the manner in which Mr Gothard had conducted the business of the Board since he had acted as clerk."
