Cycling Notes.
The American oolored crack, «! Major " Taylor, who oreated such t, sensation in cycling ciroles on the Continent two months back, won daring bis-three months' European tour the large sum of J 61200. The flying nigger competed in 25 events, won 19, was seoond four times, and third twice—thus obtaining a place in every race he started in. A oable messafe to the Dunlop Tjre Company a few weeks back brought intelligence of the world's hoar record being bettered by a German cyolist namod Robl. English files to hand show that Robl's performance of riding 40 miles 1245 yards in 60 minutes was a more meritorious ride than was gathered from the telegraphic message. The new record was established in competition during a paced matoh between Robl and a Dute't crack named Dickerstmann, the former winning easily, and at the same time adding half a mile to the previous best hour ride, which w-s held by the American, W. Stinion. A big motor race from Moscow to St. Petersburg, a distance of 480 miles, wm dewn for running on July 21st.
