Christchurch, March 12. Tho Fire Brigades competitions in connection with the bi-annual demonstration commenced to-day at Lancaster Park. The manual engine competition (dry), one man, was won by Christchurch, Ashburton second, and Spit third. Ladder Rescue Competition.—Lieutenant Mulville and Foreman Rugg, Kumara, 1; Ashburton, 2 ; Grcymoutb, 3. Dunedin, Grey town and Now Plymouth were disqualified. Gavin Mclntyre Park, charged with having stolen £ll2 Gs Id while Postmaster atTaupo, having already forfeited his retiring allowance, has been admitted to probation for 12 months. The woman administered an emetic, but Mrs Kay died next morning.
