Mr Lethbridge again intends contesting the Bangitikei seat with Mr Stevens at next election. Mr Whitcombe, Chairman of the Pahiatua County Council, intends to run for the Masterton seat at next election. Many members are talking desperately this session about borrowing. They say something must be done to find work, and to restore the dormant state of things, and they suggest a big loan to complete the Otago Central, Midland Railway, and North Island Trunk lines. Mr C. Hall has given notice to move: —That as many occupiers of education reserves leased their holdings before any provision was made that they should receive the value of their improvements at the expiration of their leases, will the Government legislate so that the lessee may be put on the same footing as education leaseholders now are by receiving the value of such improvements when such reserves are re-leased ? Mr C. Hall is to ask the Premier (in the absence of the Colonial Treasurer),--" That, as suburban sections of land were excluded as securities under ' The Advances to Settlers Act, 1894,' and that as? many holders of suburban sections have, under a misapprehension, applied to the Lending Board for loans, and paid thereto the amount of valuation fees, and, as the Lending Board has refused to lend to such applicants, will the Government provide that the valuation fees shall be returned to such applicants ?'•
