The explanation of the Chairman of the Pahiatua County Council at the meeting atKaitawa- that £2,800 of loan moneys had been applied in an illegitimate manner—will be an eyeopener for the ratepayers. The explanation is, however, sufficient to account for the mess into which the county finances appear to have fallen.
