More dissatisfaction with the incapabilities of the Railway Commissioners I On Tuesday night a meeting will be held at the Manga-atua schoolroom to consider the drawing up of a petition to the Railway Commissioners in regard to the proposed train service. By it tho Victoria station will be passed by the through trains and tho settlers will be put to the inconvenience of having to go to Mataiwi or Woodville if they W'ant to catch a train. The settlers say they would be satisfied even if tho through trains stopped at Victoria Station on say two days a week.

If tho Government carry out their reputed intention of raising their salaries, it will ,be a.scandalous shamp.after the retrenchment cry of tho party and can only end in one thing, and that is their speedy death.

We believe the property tax is doomed. The Government are pledged to its repeal. It has driven capital out of the country and hit hard the improving settler and we hope to see its repeal brought about as one of the first acts of the new Government.

We congratulate Mr Hogg, the member for the district, on his start in Parliament in urging the construction of the Wood-ville-Eketahuna line. We trust he will not forget the desirability of following up his election speeches on the Railway Commissioners and endeavor to have a trial given to the Vaile system and the Act repealed by which the present Commissioners are running tho railways at the expense of the country settlers, whom these railways were intended to benefit.
