Woodville Examiner. (PUBLISHED 81-WEEKLY.) FRIDAY, SEPT. 17, 1886.

The polling iu connection with the AVoodville Town Board election has resulted in the return of Messrs J. J. Murphy, 0. Siau, C. M. Campbell, James Taylor, and Joseph Sowry. AVe are glad that the late chairman (Mr Sowry) has been re-elected, because he has worked hard for the town during the late Board’s tenure of office. Not one of the members of the old Board could have spared the time Mr Sowry has given to Town Board matters, neither had they the professional knowledge possessed by the late chairman in the matter of drafting plans, specifications, &c. Mr Sowry’s time and technical knowledge has been cheerfully and ungrudgingly given in the past, and he has saved the town no small amount of money by undertaking, gratuitously, work which would otherwise have had to be paid for. Taking into consideration all these matters wc trust the new Board will recognise M r So wry g service,' by unanimously re-electing him chairman. Of the other members of the new Board, Mr J. J. Murphy, who has been re-elected, is a gentleman who is always honest and outspoken, and hits straight at the mark. The fact that he has been returned at the head of the poll, is sufficiently convincing that he has the confidence of the public. The other gentlemen elected are new members. Mr Siau is an excellent business man and will make, we have no doubt, a good and useful member. Air C. M. Campbell, as a member of the Maunga-atua Road Board, has always been attentive to his duties, and he will doubtless be equally energetic as a Commissioner of the Town Board. Air James Taylor, though a “ dark horse ” has been elected by the Baker Township ratepayers to represent their interests, and although a comparative stranger he comes with a good reputation as an honest and stiaightforward man. Taken altogether, the Town Board, as at present constituted, is a stong one, composed as it is of men of common sense and anility. Aluch useful business will of, necessity, have to be undertaken during the next two years; we therefore trust the Board will work together hannouiously in the interests of the ratepayers generally.
