Their Game of Bluff.
A boy was crossing the public gardens yesterday with a dog. On the way he met another boy crossing the garden with a dog. The two boys halted and surveyed each other, and each other uttered a “humph” with disgust. The two canines stopped at 10 feet away and scratched up the grass and uttered blood-curdling growls. “ Can your dog fight ?” “Can he? Why he licked a lion last summer ? Can your dog fight ?'* “ Ob, no ! He didn’t grab one o’ the Zoological Bengal tigers which got out of a cage ! He won’t fight—oh, no!” “ I’d let my dog chew yours all to pieces, but I’m afraid he’d get the hydrophobia.” “ I’d let my dog tight, but may be yours has fleas.” “ Humph !” “ Humph yourself I” “I’d lick you if my shoulder wasn’t lame 1” “And it’s a good thing for you that 7 hurt my back yesterday I” “ Pooh 1” “ Bah !” They jumped at each other and the <3ogs followed suit, but next moment each boy, followed by his dog, took a run for ii> and didn’t halt for a hundred yards.
