A Sad Wedding.

A marriage ceremony, performed under peculiarly sad circumstances, is described in the New York journals, A young man of good family, at Hackensack, New Jersey, was about to be married to a young lady, daughter of a physician, and the preparations were just completed when he fell ill of typhoid pneumonia. On ouo occasion, when the doctor called, the patient asked—- “ Doctor, am I going to get better or not ? Tell me ; I am prepared to hear the worst.” “George,” answered the doctor, “you are going to die.” “Shall I live two days?” enquired the young man, anxiously. The doctor gravely shook his head. “One day—l2 hours?” he asked, as the physician continued to respond in the negative. “Six hours?” he said, quite startled at finding death so near. . “ Possibly,” answered the doctor. When the physician had gone, and the news had been broken to the family, the young man sent for his betrothed. In a little while the pastor of the Hackensack Presbyterian Church was called into the sick room to perform a marriage ceremony. The young man was too weak to sit up, ao his betrothed sat on the bedside and held his bauds, whilst the minister read the service. It was a very affecting scone, but the young man so soon to pass away was the most tranquil and resigned of _ all, He noticed that the dock struck one just as the ceremony was finished. The patient revived a little after his marriage, but it only served to make swift decline after nightfall the more noticeable. Early in the morning, before the bride had been a wife 18 hours, her husband died in her arms.
