HOME AND FOREIGN. (Reuter's Telegrams.—Cop yright.) BULGARIAN AFFAIRS. London, September 8. It is generally anticipated by the European Press that Prince Alexander will abdicate the throne of Bulgaria after the rebuff that was recently administered to him by the Czar. THE RECIDIVISTES QUESTION. September 7. In the House of Commons last night Sir Edward Stanhope, Secretary of State for the Colonies, stated in reply to a question that the Government was pressing the French Government to abstain from the deportation of criminals to the Pacific. WOOL SALE.—ADVANCE IN PRICE. The third series of colonial wool sales opened to-day before a large attendance of buyers. The catalogue comprised 18.000 bales, for which there was brisk competition. Prices ranged from a halfpenny to twopence higher than at the close of the last sales, greasy showing an advance of a penny to three halfpence; scoured, twopence ; coarse greasy crossbreds, a halfpenny to a penny ; fine greasy crossbreds, a penny to three halfpence. AUSTRALIAN NEWS. DEPORTATION OF FRENCH CRIMINALS. Mklhouknk, Sept. 8. The Premier, Mr Gillies, is at present in communication with the chairman of the standing committee of the Federal Council with the regard to the New Hebrides, and also for adopting the necessary measures for the protection of the colonics from the influx of recidivistes. In the Legislative Assembly last night Mr MTntyre gave notice of a question on the subject. September 10. In the Legislative Assembly to-day Mr MTntyre asked the Premier whether the Government, in view of the threatened influx of recidivistes to the Pacific, would submit measures to prevent escapees and others landing in Australia, and to ask the cooperation of other colonies in such legislation. Mr Gillies replied that the matter was under the consideration of the Government. ADVANCE IN WOOL. Private telegrams received in Melbourne report that the London colonial wool sales opened yesterday with an unusually large attendance of Homo and foreign buyers
