The Alhambra arrived at five this morning from Melbourne. She is not yet tendered, but the Captain brought papers ashore in a rowing boat, the weather being fine. Passengers for Wellington : — Miss Thomson, Miss Bebbs, Mrs Melville, Mrs Perrett, Messrs Waters, Edmondaon, Wilson, Perrett, Smith, Cummings (2), Lackland, and Melville.
Captain Hugh M'Kan, late of the Aldinga, who recently underwent amputation of the leg, died this morning. The flags are half-mast high. London, December 4. The attitude of the Spanish authorities in regard to the Virginia's filibusters is generally supported by the European Press.
Russia purposes to expend a million upon the Royal marriage. The competition at the wool sales continue fairly brisk. Prices are a halfpenny to a penny lower. Cape wools are the most affected. Continental buyers are operating cautiously. Beef, mutton, and tallow, are dull.
Wheat is quoted at 67s per quarter ; leather ir quiet. New Zealand fives, 104. Hemp is dull, and declining.
