October Ist, 1873.
Present — The Bishop, Archdeacon Stock, Revs A. Knell, T. S. Tudor, A. Towgood, W. Ballachey, J. M 'William, T. Fancourt, B. W. Harvey, H. W. St Hill, C. H. S. Nichols. Laity : Messrs C. D. Barraud, C. P. Powles, Dr Kemp, A. Ludlam, A. Braithwaite, It. S. Barton J. Kebbell, S. Allen, W. H. Quick, T. Buchanan.
The President opened the proceedings with prayer.
Minutes of previous day were read and confirmed. <•
Mr Barraod read the report of the Standing Committee and the balancesheet of the Diocesan Fund. These were adopted by the Synod, and ordered to be printed.
Archdeacon Stock read the balancesheets of the Diocesan Pension Fund, the Pension Fund capital account, and of the Endowment Fund. , i wbdJ-bichvuo 1
Moved by Archdeacon Stock, and seconded by Mr Quick, " That this Synod requests the General Synod to appoint a committee to inquire into the action of the Standing Committee of the diocese of Auckland in refusing to take fire risks outside the diocese of Auckland." Carried.
Moved by Archdeacon Stock, seconded by Dv Kemp, " That this Synod requests the General Synod to draw \ip a statute for the organisation of Standing Committees.'' Carried.
Moved by Archdeacon Stock, seconded by Mr Allen, "That the§General Synod
be requested to allow some portion of the vestry-men to be non-communicants." Lost. Moved by Archdeacon Stock, seconded by Mr Allen, " That the General Synod be requested not to fix any other limit upon the number to be elected than by naming the quorum." Lost. The motion of Archdeacon Stock, that church properties be insured in the Church Fire Insurance Office, was withdrawn until after the General Synod. Moved by Archdeacon Stock, seconded by Rev B. W. Harvey, "That the General Synod reform the General Pension according to the scheme adopted by the Synod, or in such other way as in their discretion they may see fit." Carried. Moved by Dr Kemp, seconded by Rev H. W. St Hill, "That it is desirable to change somewhat the members of the vestry in each parish in each year, and that the President be requested to urge upon the several parishes the desirability of this being done when possible." Lost. Moved by Rev Ballachey, seconded by Mr Powles, "That a Standing Committee be appointed, to consist of Archdeacon Stock, Rev B. W. Harvey, Rev H. W. St Hill, Rev T. Fancourt, Messrs Barraud, Quick, R. Hunter, E. Pearce, J. G. Allan, T. Buchanan, G. Allen, C. P. Powlea, Dr Kemp. ' A printing committee was elected. The Diocesan Board for considering the general fitness of candidates for orders was re-elected. Leave was given to apply to the General Synod for permission to change the parsonage site at Greytown. Notice of motion was given by Mr Quick.
