TAILORS' STRIKE.

TO THE EDITOR OP THE INDEPENDENT. Sir, — A local appears in this morning's issue stating that journey nen tailors hitherto have not been in receipt of more than lOd an hour. We deny this ; they have been receiving Is an hour for many years, on a time table made by themselves. It is not a shilling or two they demand, as they would lead the public to believe, but 11s 6d on a black cloth suit. We have offered them 8s advance and they refuse it. We conclude by repeating the last clause of the local : — " As long as the demands made are fair and reasonable, we see nothing to disturb the harmony which has so long existed between employers and employed of the tailoring business of this city." — We are, &c, J. Cook & Sons, B. Poulson, J. & R. Sloan, G. A. Beck.
